Blocked Drains Across Wollongong & the Illawarra
Tree roots are the number one cause of blocked drains from Thirroul down through Woonona: mature figs, camphor laurels and the escarpment gums hunt for the moisture in old earthenware sewer joints, and the clay soils on the flats around Dapto shift enough in a wet winter to crack them. Closer to the harbour and Warrawong, it's more often grease and the older shared sewer lines that catch people out.
Two things worth knowing: you are responsible for the pipe up to the Sydney Water connection point, which is often outside your fence, and a sewer overflowing on the footpath or road is Sydney Water's job on 13 20 90. A hidden leak or an overflowing gully during a storm can look like a blockage but isn't, which is exactly why the camera goes down before we quote.

Good to Know Before You Call
How fast can you clear a blocked drain?
For overflowing sewers we aim to be there within 45 minutes* during service hours. Most blockages are cleared in a single visit, our vans carry the camera and jetter, so there's no coming back another day.
Do you really put a camera down every drain?
Yes. It's the only way to know what's actually blocking the line and whether the pipe is damaged. You see the footage, so you're never guessing about what you're paying for.
What's pipe relining and does it really avoid digging?
A resin-saturated liner is inserted into the existing pipe and cured in place, creating a new smooth pipe inside the old one. It seals cracks and root entry points and needs no trenches through gardens, driveways or floors.
Is a blocked drain my responsibility or the water authority's?
Blockages inside your property boundary, including the sewer line to the connection point, are the owner's responsibility. If the camera shows the problem is in the authority's main, we'll tell you and point you to the right people.
Can you fix stormwater and gutters too?
Yes. Blocked stormwater lines, downpipes and pits are cleared and repaired, and we can sort overflowing gutters and downpipe connections at the same visit. We don't do roof repairs; if the roof itself is leaking we'll tell you straight.
Will it block again?
If the pipe is sound and we've jetted it properly, not for a long time. If the camera shows cracks or roots, we'll show you and recommend relining so it stays fixed.
Who do I call if the sewer is overflowing on the footpath?
That is usually a blockage in Sydney Water's pipes, and they fix it free on 13 20 90, 24 hours a day. Inside your boundary, or from your pipes up to their connection point, it's your responsibility and ours to fix. Sydney Water's wastewater blockages page spells out the split; if you're not sure, call us and we'll tell you which one it is before anyone is charged.
